Ashton was born late in the evening on July 19th, 1982 to Charles and Ylonda. Ashton grew up in a very wealthy home and if he wanted something, he got it.
Growing up, Ashton was a 3 sport athlete in Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. He led his high school to 2 state football titles, 4 state wrestling titles, and a baseball title. He was the star quarterback for the football team, won the 125 pound wrestling title his freshman year, the 133 his sophomore year, and the 141 his junior and senior years, and was a pitcher and shortstop on the baseball team.
Ashton received numerous amounts of scholarships to play Division I Football and Wrestling. In the end, Ashton decided to go far away from home and attend Pennsylvania State University on a dual scholarship in football and wrestling.
At Penn State, Woods lettered 4 times in wrestling and twice in football (as a safety). He didn't accomplish much in football except a 2nd team All Big 10 honors his Senior year... but it was Wrestling where he shined.
He started off in the 149 pound division... placing 5th place at Nationals. His Sophomore year, in the same division, Ashton captured the National Title at 149. His Junior year, he moved up to 157 and placed 2nd in Nationals. And his Senior year, he won Nationals in the 157 pound division. Penn State as a team finished 9th, 4th, 6th, and 2nd his four years there... never quite capturing a team National Championship.
Woods left Penn State as one of the most successful athletes in its history and immediately pursued the Olympics in 2004, making the squad and winning a Bronze Medal.
After the Olympics were over... Woods knew exactly what to do whit his life... and that was to go into the sport of MMA. He began training in 2005 and after a few mediocre runs in independent leagues, found himself at IMMAF to make a bigger name for himself.
